My "sweet-please" ~

Oh Gracie..

Let me tell you about this funny story that you, so sweetly, would not surrender - When you were even "yiddler" than you are now, you would say please so easily. In fact you would say please just to say it..but for some crazy reason you have stopped. I have a few ideas, but I'm not an expert so I can't be FUR SHORE why saying please has come to an abrupt, no non-sense halt.

The other day you wanted a kiss.. a Hershey's chocolate kiss..not your kisses because those are really licks, which I love..anyway you went to the pantry and said, "some.. I want some".. I normally would have just let you have one with no please required, but that night was the night it would all begin to change.

You and I stood at that pantry with the door closed for 10 minutes...you repeatedly saying, "some..I want some" and I in return saying, "say please..Gracie say please?". You never once yelled at me or hit me.. you just kept those eyebrows as close together with all the determination you could muster. YOU were NOT going to say please. You'd rather give up your binky, than say please.

I began to worry that this was going on a little long and I didn't want to stress you, so I scooped you up in my momma arms and whispered, "Sassy say please?" and you whispered back, "some.. I want some." So, we together, walked away from the pantry door, with no Hershey kisses melting in your mouth and began to play puzzles on the floor with Reesey.

I could tell that your mind was still at that pantry door with the Hershey kisses waiting behind it for you.. You stood up and came and sat in my lap. You turned your sweet face up to me with eyebrows almost touching and whispered, "please" in a voice I will never, ever forget. Again I scooped you up in my momma arms.. I began to sing and dance with praises unto you, my little firecracker, cause you did it! You said please and I knew it was so hard for you, but you did it and you not only got ONE Hershey kiss, you got THREE!!

You giggled as you ate them and between Bubba and I picking you up and twirling you around while singing, "Sassy said please, oh Sassy said, please!" You would say, "please!".

Gracie Girl, I love your determination. I know that it will get you so far and have you so successful in your life. But please, Sass, for the love of all that's pure and holy, cut momma some slack, eh?

I love you ~

Dear Gracie...

I couldn't sleep last night. You were on my mind. I wondered things like what did you eat for dinner and did you sing E-I-E-I-O in the tub? Did you remember the pigs this time or just the "moo moo"...

When you come home we are going to color and decorate a card for Daddy's birthday. You can use the "real markers" even.

Only one more sleep and I will see you and hold you so tight and we will play ring around the rosie's until we are dizzy. K?

Momma misses you.

I love you to little bite size pieces..

We "Don't Do It"..together

Sassy does this thing where she flexes her arms and arches her fingers all the while straining her eyes to pop out of her head... its her silly little thing she does at the dinner table and it makes us laugh our pants off. Sometimes she takes her little arched fingers and points them at the light as if to get powers out of the bulbs. Anyways we all love it. We simply say "Gracie don't do it! Don't do it!"...and of course she will do it. Sadly we have all jumped on the band wagon and we all "Don't do it!"...

We love you Sass A Frass.. You really make things pop around here ~~~~~

For My Little Gracie...

When I started this blog it was because I wanted to document what our growing family did daily and the crazy silly things that our kids do...but ever since we got this beautiful bundle of joy...

This perfect little firecracker...

Has had a really hard time adjusting and today it really had me upset, a sad upset. Gracie and I had given Baby Reese a bath...besides G's support in throwing all blankets and burp clothes that were in her reach into the tub, it went great. While I was drying Reese off in the bathroom, G went ahead of me into Reese's room and climbed onto Reese's changing table. OK not a problem, besides me freaking out mentally thinking what if she would have pulled it onto herself during "the climb"... I got her off and put the baby up there. Gracie normally likes to climb up the side of the changing table between Reese and I and just hang out while I get Reese dressed. Today however she decided to climb up the other side and just whack at Reese with whatever chance she could, even if it meant her falling off and get her body stuck in the sides pinching her arms and making her cry. She was bound and determined to hit little Reese today. After getting a hold of Reese's new bracelet Jax had just made for Reese yesterday and ruining it, and 5 attempts at whacking Reese I kinda lost it, even raised my voice and was mad, dropped a few $#@%'s and a couple &*%$'s. I put her in her room while I finished dressing Reese...G pounded on the door and threw a great tantrum. I realized it was her nap time and down she went happily with a bottle.

I'm learning this "2 babies at one-time" thing still... its hard. It makes me sad that I can't make both of my beautiful girls happy all the time. I'm sad that Gracie and my one-on-one time is no longer. Although I'm very grateful for Reese, I know its hard on Gracie. So for when Gracie is older and reads this blog of our family, I want her to know this...

Dear Gracie,

Momma loves you very much. You make me so happy with all your crazy, devil like moods. You are so very smart and it always amazes me all the things you know what to do and how to do. You are so funny... you make our meal time full of laughter which makes our home, OUR home. You are so sweet with your cuddles and kisses. I never pass up the chance to feel your head on my shoulder. Its one of my favorite feelings.

Your determination and stubborn traits, which frustrate me, make you, you. One day those same traits will get you where you want to be in life. Whether it be a furious Roller Derby Girl, or the CEO of a huge corporation...your personality traits are killer and will help you succeed in life.

You are 16 months old now... I've been so blessed to be apart of your life for 9 of those months, and could pee my pants with excitement for all the adventures that I will do with you, but even more grateful that I won't miss any of your mile stones.

In our child roster, you are my 2nd baby of 3...that puts you in the middle, which to me, means you are in the middle of my heart. Please know that you are such a huge part of our family and are so very missed when you are gone. To me you are more precious than rubies...

I love you Gracie Girl...for ever and always my Gracie you'll be.

Love,
Momma
